August 20, 2021 โ€” The following was released by the Pacific Fishery Management Council:

The Pacific Fishery Management Council (Pacific Council) will convene a webinar meeting of its Groundfish Management Team (GMT) to discuss items on the Pacific Councilโ€™s September 2021 meeting agenda.  This meeting is open to the public. The online meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 31 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time.  The scheduled ending time for this GMT meeting is an estimate, the meeting will adjourn when business for the day is completed.

Washington Hit With Historic Number of Vibrio Infections Following Major Heatwave

July 21, 2021 โ€” The Washington Department of Health (DOH) linked the recent heatwave that left millions of shellfish dead to the historic number of vibrio cases the state has reported in July.

The state said the high temperatures and low tides of late could be the reason behind the increased rate of the disease that is related to consuming raw or undercooked shellfish. Particularly oysters contaminated with Vibrio.

PFMC: Groundfish Endangered Species Workgroup to hold online meeting April 26-28, 2021

The Pacific Fishery Management Councilโ€™s (Pacific Council) Groundfish Endangered Species Workgroup will hold a three-day meeting, which is open to the public. The online meeting will be held Monday, April 26, 2021 through Wednesday, April 28, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day, Pacific Daylight Time, or until business for the day has been completed.
