Seafood Expo Global 2020 edition canceled

April 16, 2020 โ€” The following was released by Diversified Communications:

Diversified Communications, organizer of Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global, the worldโ€™s largest seafood event, has reluctantly determined that the continued and expanding magnitude of the public health and safety issues caused by COVID-19 worldwide now requires the cancellation of the 2020 edition of Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global. The event had previously been postponed due to COVID-19.

Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global was originally scheduled for 21-23 April 2020 at the Brussels Expo in Belgium. When we announced the postponement of the 2020 event, we had expected to reschedule later this year. Given the recent announcement that the limitation on large gatherings in Brussels has been extended through 31 August 2020 and the ongoing impacts of COVIDโ€“19, including global travel restrictions, and the broad need to practice physical distancing, we have concluded it is impossible to hold the event. The complexities of organizing a safe, global, seafood event drawing seafood professionals from more than 158 countries in the midst of a pandemic pose too many insurmountable hurdles. We are disappointed to concede that hosting a 2020 edition of the event is infeasible.

If you purchased a registration ticket to attend the 2020 edition in April, your registration to the exhibit hall will automatically be applied to the 2021 edition in Barcelona, Spain. Once the 2021 registration is opened later this fall, you will receive communications from us about your rolled over registration. If you have not registered for the April 2020 edition, you will receive communications from us as soon as the registration for the 2021 event opens.

Looking ahead: mark your calendar for 2021!

While we all continue to navigate this difficult situation, the Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global team is engaged in intensive planning for the next edition, scheduled for 27-29 April 2021, in our beautiful new location, Fira Barcelona Gran Via, in Barcelona, Spain.

Please donโ€™t hesitate to contact us at info-global@seafoodexpo.com if you have any questions.

We wish you all good health and look forward to seeing you in Barcelona in 2021.

Seafood companies step up to help COVID-19 relief and recovery efforts

April 13, 2020 โ€” Seafood companies across the United States have stepped up with donations of food, personal protective equipment, soap, and other items in response to the coronavirus crisis that is gripping the nation.

Sealaska, Bumble Bee, Tampa Bay Fisheries, Handy Seafood, Verlasso, and Diversified Communications are just a few companies in the seafood industry that have made efforts to help their communities in the ongoing health crisis that has killed more than 20,400 citizens, sickened half-a-million, and left practically the entire country with limited access to food and other necessities of life.

April 6, 2020 โ€” The following was released by Seafood Expo North America:

Today, Diversified Communications, organizer of the annual Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America, announced the new dates for its 2020 event. The expo will take place at the Boston Exhibition and Convention Center this September 2020, with an exhibit hall open on September 23rd and 24th, and a conference program that will start on September 22nd.

In the last few months and weeks, the seafood industry and community, along with the rest of the world, have been experiencing some of the most tumultuous, emotionally and economically challenging times. โ€œWhile navigating this unprecedented situation, we know there is a need for business continuity and are committed to providing a platform that will bring back together the industry suppliers and buyers who, due to circumstances beyond anyoneโ€™s control, were prevented from meeting in March as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic,โ€ said Liz Plizga, Group Vice President, Diversified Communications.

The September dates were carefully chosen in consideration of the recent escalating situation with COVID-19, the venue availability, as well as feedback from customers and high-volume retail and foodservice Key Buyers from North America.

โ€œIt is fair to say that this yearโ€™s event will not be like any other years,โ€ added Plizga. โ€œHowever, the Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America team is dedicated to delivering a high-quality event and services that are as similar as possible to what our customers have come to expect over the years.โ€

The September edition will feature a solutions-driven conference program led by industry experts covering todayโ€™s most relevant topics. The exhibit hall, which will be held in Halls B and C, will highlight special programs like the New and Featured Product Showcases where buyers can identify the latest seafood product, equipment and services, innovations and trends.

In the coming weeks, Diversified Communications and its official partners, will reach out to exhibitors, buyers and other seafood professionals to provide further details about the September event. New information will be included at seafoodexpo.com/north-america.

The 2021 event is scheduled during the same time frame as in past years: March 14-16, 2021.
