USDA seeking US tuna, walleye suppliers

March 25, 2025 โ€” The U.S. Department of Agriculture is seeking more suppliers of U.S. canned tuna and frozen walleye fillets.

In a notice, the agency said it is looking for feedback from companies that can supply 100 percent domestic tuna in 12-ounce and 66.5-ounce cans, as well as Kosher canned tuna in 66.5-ounce cans.

Seafood safety specialist releases study dispelling popular tuna, mercury fears

February 11, 2025 โ€” A recent article submitted to the Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council provided scientific backing to help dispel fears surrounding mercury levels in tuna.

In a guest article submitted to the management council, John Kaneko, a seafood safety specialist based in Honolulu, Hawaii, highlighted where the origins of mercury fears surrounding tuna first emerged.

Judge refuses to dismiss lawsuit against labeling claims made by American Tuna

February 14, 2024 โ€” The judge in a case arguing American Tuna engaged in mislabeling has ruled the lawsuit can proceed.

American Tuna, a San Diego, California, U.S.A.-based seafood supplier that sells traceable, pole-and-line caught, Marine Stewardship Council-certified tuna, won the 2022 Whole Foodsโ€™ Supplier of the Year Award.
