The Obama administration said Monday that it will hold up public meeting of its Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force next week in Providence.
The group, assigned to draft a national policy on the ”protection, maintenance, and restoration of oceans, our coasts and the Great Lakes,” will meet at 4 p.m. on Sept. 24 at the Rhode Island Convention Center, according to a news release from the White House. The public is invited to attend — and to post online comments about the policy under consideration.
Nancy Sutley, who chairs the White House Council on Environmental Quality, will preside at the three-hour meeting. Also featured: Dr. Jane Lubchenco, chief of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration; Vice Admiral David P. Pekoske, vice commandant of the U.S.Coast Guard; Dr. Dora Hughes, the counselor for science and public health at the Department of Health and Human Services; and Laura Davis, associate deputy secretary at the Department of Interior.
