WASHINGTON – Dec 16, 2011 — Six New England lawmakers joined Congressman Barney Frank in asking Commerce Secretary John Bryson for an emergency assessment of Gulf of Maine cod.
John Tierney, Frank Guinta, Bill Keating, Michael Michaud, and Chellie Pingree joined Congressman Barney Frank in writing to Commerce Secretary John Bryson to ask that the National Marine Fisheries Service conduct an emergency assessment of Gulf of Maine cod, and that the secretary exercise his emergency powers to freeze the Gulf of Maine cod allocation until a new stock assessment has been completed.
