June 11, 2015 — WASHINGTON — Local Saltonstall-Kennedy grant applicants will have to wait until the end of June or possibly into July before learning whether they will receive any of the $18 million in federal money allocated for this year’s round of funding.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said in a statement Wednesday it still is working to complete the final selection package and applicants recommended for funding should be notified by early July.
Locally, four applicants submitted six separate proposals, with the Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Association submitting three applications seeking about $305,000 for projects related to seafood culinary education, fishery sustainability and the expanded use of under-utilized species.
