The following has been released by NOAA:
Office of the Assistant Administrator for Fisheries
October 20, 2011
Announcements for two critical NOAA Fisheries leadership positions – the Northeast Regional Administrator in Gloucester, MA and the Northeast Fisheries Science Center Director in Woods Hole, MA – have been posted on-line and we are actively recruiting. As always, we hope to attract a broad range of qualified candidates for these positions.
We'd appreciate your assistance in encouraging prospective candidates to submit their applications for either of these positions in accordance with our standard application process.
The direct links to the announcements are:
* Regional Administrator, Northeast Region; Vacancy NMFS-NER-2012-0007
* Science and Research Director, Northeast Region; Vacancy NMFS-NER-2012-0008
The Regional Administrator and Science Center Director positions are both Senior Executive Service (SES) positions. All SES positions require several additional steps to the traditional recruitment process. Information on the SES recruitment process and qualifications can be found at: http://www.opm.gov/ses/index.asp
These openings have been posted on the USAJobs.com website and advertised widely through traditional and non-traditional venues. Once the job announcements close on November 21, 2011, the NOAA Office of Workforce Management will review the applications. Then, a rating and ranking panel made up of diverse and broad representation from NOAA and Department of Commerce Senior Executives will review and rank the qualified candidates. A separate panel will then conduct the interviews for the best qualified candidates. This panel will also include outside expert representation. The selected candidate is then approved by NOAA and the Department of Commerce followed by review and approval from the Office of Personnel Management's Qualification Review Board.
Thank you in advance for your help in alerting qualified candidates to these openings. If you have any questions, please contact Gloria Thompson on my staff at 301-427-8051.
Sincerely,
Eric C. Schwaab
Assistant Administrator for Fisheries
