PANAMA CITY, Fla. — July 3, 2014 — U.S. Rep. Steve Southerland will host a press conference Monday with local leaders to discuss fisheries legislation he recently introduced in congress, according to a press release from his office.
Southerland will be discussing proposed legislation limiting presidential authority to shut down part of the ocean to fishing and energy exploration without congressional authorization or the approval of neighboring states. The Marine Access and State Transparency (MAST) Act would limit the president’s authority now and in the future.
