February 25, 2015 — Anyone with anything at stake in the Massachusetts commercial fisheries has been invited to the Sustainable Massachusetts Fisheries Summit at 2 p.m. Monday, March 2, at the UMass Club, 225 Franklin St., Boston (the State Street Bank building).
The event is sponsored by UMass Dartmouth and the Marine Fisheries Institute, which is a partnership between the UMass Dartmouth School for Marine Science and Technology (SMAST) and the state Division of Marine Fisheries.
The goal of the meeting is "improve understanding of an issue critical to the economy and culture of the Commonwealth," according to the announcement.
UMass Dartmouth Chancellor Divina Grossman said that those being encouraged to attend are local, state and federal elected officials, representatives of the fishing and seafood industries, environmental organizations and state and federal agencies.
