It appears Mr. Claws will go free after all. The 23-pound lobster was up for auction at the Rhode Island National Guard Open House Air Show to benefit the National Guard.
Pete Chevalier, who caught the giant lobster, said if he raised $2,500 that he would release the lobster. If not, he would still give the money raised to the fund, but that he would eat Mr. Claws. Chevalier told NBC 10 he collected a little more than $1,300, but doesn't plan on eating him. He said he'll release the lobster today.
