What’s going on with the “miscommunication” between Gov. Deval Patrick’s office and Commerce Secretary Gary Locke?
Patrick wrote to Locke in early November asking for emergency relief for fishing families before the holidays and yet nothing has been done. The allowable catch limits should have been changed then but instead two more months of damage has been done, forcing more families out of the fishing industry.
Standard-Times reporter Steve Urbon reports today that Congressman Barney Frank had said two weeks ago that there is some sort of “miscommunication” between the governor’s office and the Commerce Secretary. Both sides are waiting for the other to make the next move.
Huh?
Patrick’s office and the Obama administration can’t get their act together for two months while fishermen and their families are going down the drain?
The governor told Urbon he’d talked to Locke in recent days expressing frustration with the delay. But Commerce is apparently pointing at the governor, at least according to the Frank.
