October 3, 2013 — MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. — When the sound of children enjoying festival rides and the smell of freshly-cooked seafood fill the air along Morehead City’s waterfront, it usually means it’s time for the Seafood Festival.
The 27th annual North Carolina Seafood Festival begins Friday along North Carolina’s homeport for commercial fishing vessels in Morehead City.
The festival will run from noon to 11p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. through 11 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The festival allows more than 150,000 people in the neighboring communities to enjoy a variety of fish and shellfish, according to its official website.
Pamela Janoskey, a volunteer for the festival, said she’s been attending the Seafood Festival for eight years and has enjoyed every year.
The Seafood Festival raises awareness about the many types of seafood and its importance of commercial fishing to the state’s economy.
