MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (AP) — January 22, 2014 — The North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries is holding seven public meetings about placing shells and rock in the water to improve shellfish habitat.
The shells and rock are placed in potentially productive shellfish areas to attract oysters, clams and other aquatic life so that they'll colonize on the material.
