Point Pleasant Beach, N.J. (AP) — April 12, 2015 — A tugboat and some incoming tide was enough to return a beached commercial fishing boat into the water.
The 77-foot Capt. Gavin was carrying 600 pounds of scallops when it ran aground Wednesday in Point Pleasant Beach.
An attempt to get the boat back in the water on Saturday failed when low tide didn't provide enough water to float off the beach.
Crews were able to get it pointed toward the water, however, and late Saturday night a tugboat pulled the ship into the ocean as the tide was coming in.
A Coast Guard spokesman tells NJ Advance Media (http://bit.ly/1Erouro) that the Capt. Gavin was towed to Tottenville Marina in Staten Island with six people onboard including the boat's captain and one member of the crew. No damage was reported.
