Maine Senator Olympia Snowe says she is concerned about the Obama administration's spending priorities when it comes to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's budget.
The President is proposing a nearly 16 percent increase for the agency, but Snowe says nearly all of that is for weather satellites. She says programs that directly help fishermen should be a higher priority.
"Both the National Reseach Council and the Ocean Commission report concluded that a strong fisheries stock assessment program is the foundation of successful management of commercial and recreational fisheries," Snowe said yesterday.
