October 8, 2013 — The majority of Alaska’s salmon fishery on Tuesday was cleared for Marine Stewardship Council recertification.
While 13 of the 14 fisheries that make up the Alaska salmon fishery were cleared for recertification, the assessment team said it needs additional information in order to conduct the assessment of the Prince William Sound fishery.
Six conditions of certification were placed on the fishery for the 13 areas deemed sustainable. Click here to read the full assessment.
