May 30, 2014 — The following was released by NOAA:
NOAA Fisheries has approved two new management measures for the groundfish fishery: 1) a requirement that vessels declared into the Eastern U.S./Canada Area submit daily catch reports; and 2) the amount of unused sector allocation from Fishing Year 2013 that can be carried over into 2014 to ensure safe end-of-year fishing operations.
The intent of daily reporting is to improve the accuracy of reporting of the Eastern U.S/Canada Area. We have also determined that sectors can carry over 1 percent of their respective allocations for groundfish stocks without being subject to accountability measures.
