April 4, 2013 — NOAA Fisheries today announced that effective April 7, the directed fishery for Atlantic herring in Management Area 2 will be closed. Vessels issued Federal Atlantic herring permits may not fish for, catch, possess or land more than 2,000 lb of herring from this area until the start of the next fishing year on January 1, 2014.
