May 9, 2014 — The following was released by NOAA Fisheries:
NOAA Fisheries is proposing a number of new measures for the scallop fishery for the 2014 fishing year under Framework 25 to the Atlantic Sea Scallop Fishery Management Plan. The proposed measures include:
– revised catch limits that would allow pounds that went unharvested in the Closed Area I Access Area in 2012 and 2013 to be landed in a future year;
– development of Southern New England/Mid-Atlantic windowpane flounder accountability measures; and
– a measure that would provide full-time scallop vessels the option to exchange their allocated Delmarva Access Area trip for 5 Days-At-Sea.
Public comments on these measure will be accepted through May 27th. For a copy of the Federal Register notice describing this action, click here.
