January 7, 2015 — 2014 saw record high volume and value whitefish landings in Norway, driven in part by record cod landings.
Norwegian and foreign vessels landed 532,000 metric tons of cod (round weight) for a sales value of NOK 4.8 billion through the country’s fishermen’s sales organization (Norges Rafisklag or Rafisklaget) last year.

Of the 2014 total, 406,000t worth NOK 3.9bn was landed by Norwegian vessels. This was up from 391,000t in 2013, which was the historical record at the time, said Rafisklaget.
The foreign fleet’s landings of cod increased from 90,700t to 125,900t and from NOK 660m to NOK 989m.
