May 17, 2013 — By-laws have been proposed by the Isle of Man government in an attempt to stop "unsustainable" levels of Irish Sea Queen Scallop fishing.
The measures include a weekend trawling ban and an 18:00 to 06:00 curfew on overnight fishing in Manx waters.
They would also see tighter controls of the type of fishing gear allowed to limit the size of catches.
Fisheries minister Phil Gawne said the volume of Queen Scallops caught in 2011 and 2012 was "unsustainable".
