January 7, 2015 — D.C. Air & Seafood Inc. owner Christopher Byers, who was convicted of illegally harvesting sea scallops, surrendered Jan. 5 to authorities at the U.S. Penitentiary in Lewisburg, Pa., to begin serving a 30-month sentence.
D.C. Air General Manager Dwight Rodgers said Byers, known locally and within the fishing industry as “Buddha,” was accompanied to Lewisburg Sunday night by two relatives.

Lobsterman Phil Torrey of Winter Harbor had a second sendoff for Byers Saturday evening at Torrey’s home. Rodgers said the group included local residents who had known Byers for years.
