SEAFOODNEWS.COM [SCOM] — September 16, 2014 — Omega Protein Corp. today released its inaugural corporate social responsibility report, meant to reflect the company's pledge to advance responsible manufacturing practices, community engagement and environmental sustainability.
The company operates a menhaden fishing fleet and processing facility in Moss Point.
It produces fish oils and fish meal for human consumption and for use in aquaculture, agriculture and industrial applications.
Today's CSR report reflects Omega Protein's continued dedication to operational transparency and community service, company leaders said.
"The report outlines our commitment to health, sustainability, traceability, quality assurance and environmental stewardship through our products and programs," President and CEO Bret Scholtes said.
"It also emphasizes the company's service to our communities and the environment as an extension of our mission to create a healthier world through nutritional products," he said.
The CSR report also highlights examples of the company's community commitment, such as its sponsorship of college scholarships and research grants and its support for national and international campaigns fighting hunger and malnutrition.
