January 14, 2015 — Don't look for any steep drops in the winter price for lobsters in Boston, even if Maine lobstermen increase efforts to catch the crustacean wonders off the coast of New England over coming months.
During normal times, Maine lobstermen tend to go after shrimp in the winter, when lobsters are less plentiful and more expensive to trap.
But some industry officials believe the recent cancellation of Maine's winter shrimp season for the second year in a row may lead to more Maine lobstermen turning to their true profession during the normally slow winter months: catching lobsters, the Associated Press reported.
