October 1, 2014 — The Buyers And Sellers Exchange (BASE), an electronic auctioning company that sells landings at owner Whaling City Seafood Display Auction in New Bedford, Boston’s Whaling City Auction, and Gloucester’s Whaling City Auction, handled 68,400 pounds of fish and 67,100 pounds of scallops Monday.
Top species landed and average prices were:
Scallops, 10 to 20 Mid Atlantic: 30,000 pounds ($12.78)
Scrod pollock: 12,400 pounds (97 cents)
Large Georges blackback: 10,200 pounds ($1.67)
Scallops, 20 to 30 Channel: 9,800 pounds ($12.75)
