GLOUCESTER, Mass. — June 26, 2014 — The Buyers And Sellers Exchange (BASE), an electronic auctioning company that sells landings at owner Whaling City Seafood Display Auction in New Bedford, Boston’s Whaling City Auction, and Gloucester’s Whaling City Auction, handled 68,400 pounds of fish and 185,300 pounds of scallops Friday.
Top species landed and average prices were:
Scallops, 10 to 20 Mid Atlantic: 30,200 pounds ($12.33)
Scallops, U10 Channel: 26,300 pounds ($14.93)
Scallops, 10 to 20 Closed Area II: 23,700 pounds ($13.10)
Scallops, U12 Mid Atlantic: 22,900 pounds ($14.23)
Scallops, U12 Georges: 21,300 pounds ($14.65)
The Portland, Maine, Display Auction handled 6,800 pounds of fish and 200 pounds of scallops Tuesday.
No landings were reported Wednesday at the New England Fish Exchange in Boston.
