July 8, 2014 — The Buyers And Sellers Exchange (BASE), an electronic auctioning company that sells landings at owner Whaling City Seafood Display Auction in New Bedford, Boston’s Whaling City Auction, and Gloucester’s Whaling City Auction, handled 56,900 pounds of fish and 62,700 pounds of scallops Friday.
Top species landed and average prices were:
Scallops, U10 Georges: 39,100 pounds ($14.90)
Scallops, 10 to 20 Georges: 19,700 pounds ($12.65)
Small haddock: 18,700 pounds (73 cents)
Scrod haddock: 18,500 pounds ($1.70)
Large Georges blackbacks: 3,400 pounds ($3.47)
The Portland, Maine, Display Auction handled 17,400 pounds of fish and 200 pounds of scallops Sunday.
No landings were reported Tuesday at the New England Fish Exchange in Boston.
