July 2, 2014 — The Buyers And Sellers Exchange (BASE), an electronic auctioning company that sells landings at owner Whaling City Seafood Display Auction in New Bedford, Boston’s Whaling City Auction, and Gloucester’s Whaling City Auction, handled 78,300 pounds of fish and 142,100 pounds of scallops Monday.
Top species landed and average prices were:
Scallops, 10 to 20 Mid Atlantic: 35,400 pounds ($11.90)
Small haddock: 24,200 pounds (78 cents)
Scallops, U10 Close Area II: 21,200 pounds ($14.93)
Scrod haddock: 16,600 pounds ($2)
Scallops, 10 to 20 Close Area II: 16,300 pounds ($12.68)
The Portland, Maine, Display Auction handled 25,000 pounds of fish and 200 pounds of scallops Monday.
No landings were reported Tuesday at the New England Fish Exchange in Boston.
