January 22, 2014 — The Buyers And Sellers Exchange (BASE), an electronic auctioning company that sells landings at owner Whaling City Seafood Display Auction in New Bedford, Boston’s Whaling City Auction, and Gloucester’s Whaling City Auction, handled 127,500 pounds of fish and 89,400 pounds of scallops Monday.
Top species landed and average prices were:
Sea scallop, 10 to 20 Channel: 30,500 pounds ($14.15)
Medium pollock: 17,500 pounds (83 cents)
Sea scallop, U12 Channel: 14,300 pounds ($15.88)
