March 26, 2014 — The following was released by the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council:
On Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 7 p.m., the MAFMC will hold a brief public information webinar (FR Notice attached) to gather additional fishery industry perspectives on the likely impacts of the alternative spiny dogfish trip limits under consideration in the 2014-2015 specifications package. The MAFMC has formally recommended maintaining existing (4,000 lb) federal spiny dogfish trip limits for the 2014 and 2015 fishing years, while the NEFMC has recommended eliminating federal trip limits for this fishery. In order to more fully inform the impact analysis being prepared by the MAFMC and its development of comments during pending rulemaking, the MAFMC needs to collect industry perspectives on the likely operational and economic impacts of existing and alternative spiny dogfish trip limit options for this fishery.
Call-in and connection instructions for the webinar will be distributed at a later date along with background material.
