December 10, 2012 — NOAA Fisheries and the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission to co-host a workshop to discuss technological solutions to reduce the accidental catch of protected species in gillnet gear.
The workshop will focus primarily on sea turtle and Atlantic sturgeon bycatch in southern New England and the mid-Atlantic, bringing together fishermen, gear technologists, and fisheries managers to explore potential research projects. This workshop is scheduled for January 22 and 23 in Ocean City, MD at the Clarion Resort Fountainbleu Hotel.
