Federal and state officials have been visiting New Bedford in recent weeks to advance the development of wind energy across a 1,300-square-mile swath of the ocean waters south of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Among the federal agents is Maureen Bornholdt, program manager for the Office of Offshore Alternative Energy Programs at the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement in Herndon, Va.
Bornholdt spoke to The Standard-Times recently about her work.
Q: What does your job entail?
A: I provide policy advice and guidance to the director for offshore renewable energy on both the East and West coasts as well as direct and implement the secretary's and the director's programs for offshore renewable energy on the Atlantic Coast.
