ROCHESTER, N. Y. – October 7, 2014 — State and federal biologists have released 1,000 fingerling lake sturgeon into the Genesee River as part of an effort to restore a healthy population of the native fish.
The fourth and latest release was on Monday. Participants in the effort include the state Department of Environmental Conservation, U.S. Geological Survey Great Lakes Science Center, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and Seneca Park Zoo.
