Benjamin Friedman will join GCEL on Sept. 13, and will report to NOAA's Deputy General Counsel Mary Beth Ward.
Bio: Friedman comes to NOAA with sixteen years of federal enforcement experience with the Justice Department, including seven years of management and supervisory experience with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia, including as chief of two different trial Sections. During his tenure at Justice, he tried more than 60 cases and handled and supervised hundreds more. In his management roles, he successfully led a number of initiatives to improve the operations of offices he headed. Prior to joining the Justice Department, he was a clerk to Judge Pierce Lively on the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a 1989 graduate of Vanderbilt University with a B.S. in Molecular Biology and a graduate of Emory University Law School.
