Save the Date: Innovations in Fishing Operations Workshop – April 11th and 12th
The Gulf of Maine Research Institute invites mobile gear groundfish permit holders and captains to attend a two-day workshop focused on improving the profitability and resilience of fishing businesses. Discussions will cover improved trawl selectivity through gear design with special focus on cod (both capturing and avoiding), reducing vessel’s fuel consumption, and quality fish handling techniques. Confirmed speakers include: Steve Eayrs, Chris Glass, Dave Beutel, Carl Bouchard, Ken LaValley, Chris Fream, and Jen Levin. The workshop will be held on April 11th and 12th in Beverly, MA. Travel, meals, and lodging will be covered, and a $125 dollar stipend per day will be paid to industry participants. Space is limited.
