Rick Sullivan, who has served as the commissioner of the state Department of Conservation and Recreation, is getting a promotion. He will become the state's new environmental secretary, Governor Deval Patrick's office announced this morning.
The current secretary, Ian Bowles, is stepping down, ending a four-year tenure during which he led the administration's efforts on groundbreaking energy initiatives, including Cape Wind and other renewable energy projects, the Globe reported this morning.
Sullivan managed a "highly successful turnaround turnaround of the Department of Conservation and Recreation in the first term," the governor's office said in a statement.
