September 23, 2014 — The following was released by the Maine Certified Sustainable Lobster Association: Maine Certified Sustainable Lobster AssociationMaine Certified Sustainable Lobster Association
The Maine Certified Sustainable Lobster Association, the MSC Client Group for the Gulf of Maine Lobster Fishery, is now entering the ‘information gathering’ stage of the assessment against the MSC Principles and Criteria for Sustainable Fishing.
A key purpose of this stage is to collect information on the fishery and in particular to speak to representatives of the fishery, fishery management and environmental management bodies. Should you have any information on this fishery that you feel should be considered in the assessment, please advise us. If stakeholders wish to request a private interview with the assessment team, the Certification Body shall ensure such an opportunity is provided. Where stakeholders do not wish to be interviewed, they may submit written information to the assessment team.
One to one Consultation meetings will be held from 20th to 24th October 2014 in Boston, Massachusetts; Portland, Maine; Orono, Maine; and Falmouth, Massachusetts.
If you would like to talk to the assessment team, please advise us of your interest by the 18th October 2014, giving the following details:
• your name and contact details
• your association with the fishery
• the issues you would like to discuss (in order for us to arrange appropriate representation)
