The Gulf of Maine Research Institute (GMRI) has developed a branding program for Gulf of Maine seafood. Developed over two years with input from the seafood industry, conservation entities, managers, scientists, and others, this program seeks to enable market differentiation of Gulf of Maine seafood products that meet criteria around traceability and responsible harvesting practice. The Gulf of Maine Responsibly Harvested Seafood program is a collaborative place-based branding initiative that can assist the region’s seafood industry collectively accomplish global recognition.
