October 30, 2013 — U.S. commercial fishermen landed 9.6 billion pounds of fish and shellfish in 2012, valued at $5.1 billion, according to Fisheries of the United States 2012, an annual report released by NOAA today. New England sees 7 percent growth in total landings volume and value. Massachusetts and Maine ranked 2 and 3 in revenues from fisheries. Virginia ranks 3rd in landings volume. New Bedford, MA retains title for 13th straight year of top fishing port in fisheries revenues. Reedville, VA ranks 4th in country in landings volume.
