July 18, 2014 — The Buyers And Sellers Exchange (BASE), an electronic auctioning company that sells landings at owner Whaling City Seafood Display Auction in New Bedford, Boston’s Whaling City Auction, and Gloucester’s Whaling City Auction, handled 64,600 pounds of fish and 25,000 pounds of scallops Wednesday.
Top species landed and average prices were:
Scrod haddock: 27,500 pounds ($1.47)
Small haddock: 17,600 pounds (74 cents)
Scallops, 10 to 20 Delmarva: 11,900 pounds ($13.15)
Scallops, 20 to 30 Closed Area II: 10,300 pounds ($13.23)
Mixed Georges blackbacks: 3,500 pounds ($3.80)
The Portland, Maine, Display Auction handled 16,600 pounds of fish Wednesday.
