WASHINGTON — October 31, 2012 — The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has cancelled its November 1, 2012 Atlantic Menhaden Public Hearing due to the impacts of Hurricane Sandy on the region and continued concern for public safety. This hearing will not be rescheduled.
While public safety is the primary concern, the Commission wants to provide adequate opportunity for the public to comment on Draft Amendment 2. If hearings are cancelled or members of the public are not able to attend hearings, they are encouraged to submit written comment. Draft Amendment 2 is available on the Commission website at www.asmfc.org under Breaking News or by contacting the Commission at 703.842.0740. Public comment will be accepted until 5:00 PM (EST) on November 16, 2012 and should be forwarded to Mike Waine, Fishery Management Plan Coordinator, at 1050 N.
