June 30, 2012 — Another great white shark was spotted off the coast of Chatham Saturday afternoon, according to a state official.
The shark was spotted around 4 p.m. Saturday, said Greg Skomal, a state shark researcher for the Division of Marine Fisheries, who confirmed the fish to be a great white through a photograph. It was difficult to size up how large the shark or how close it was to the coast, said Skomal.
This sighting follows two other great whites that were spotted off the Chatham coast on Thursday, which were the first documented local sightings this summer.
