Arlington, VA – Preliminary landing projections by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission's Northern Shrimp Technical Committee suggest landings are quickly approaching 95% of the total allowable catch for 2012. To prevent significant landing overages that may occur by keeping the fishery open, the Commission’s Northern Shrimp Section will meet via conference call Wednesday (2/15) at 3pm to review the current status of landings and projections regarding a season closure date. The Section will likely take action to determine a closure date for the fishery during the call.
Procedures for public comment during the call will be detailed at the beginning of the conference call. Interested stakeholders may listen-in on the conference call at 1.888.394.8197 (Passcode: 499811). Meeting materials will be posted to the meetings page at http://www.asmfc.org/meetings.htm as soon as available.
