Moe Bowstern came all the way from the Pacific Northwest to read with the Fisher Poets at New Bedford's Working Waterfront Festival this weekend.
She will stick around to read for the Whaling City Review poetry group at Baker Books in Dartmouth at 7 p.m. Monday. So if you missed her set at the festival, or if you'd like to hear more, stop in for a listen.
Bowstern is the editor since 1996 of Xtra Tuf, a 'zine that chronicles the experiences and adventures of commercial fisher folk in Alaska and beyond. Moe performs annually at the Astoria Oregon Fisher Poets Gathering. She has also appeared at the Sea Music Festival in Mystic, Conn., the Cowboy Poets Gathering in Elko, Nev., and Tony's Bar, "Kodiak's Biggest Navigational Hazard," in Kodiak, Alaska.
