NEW BEDFORD — Amid threats of an industry boycott, NOAA Administrator Jane Lubchenco on Wednesday postponed for at least 60 days a forum on fisheries law enforcement in the Northeast.
The move was applauded by Mayor Scott W. Lang, who had joined with Gloucester Mayor Carolyn Kirk in objecting to the participation of some National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration officials directly implicated by the Commerce Department's inspector general of misconduct in their enforcement.
"Reform the system and then let's have a meeting to discuss it," Lang said.
