June 15, 2015 — NEWPORT, R.I. — The following was released by the New England Fisheries Management Council:
DEAR INTERESTED PARTIES:
The New England Fishery Management Council is looking for a candidate from an observer service provider company to participate on its Observer Policy Committee. The Council has a single opening at this time. The selected person serve on the committee for a one-year term. The Observer Policy Committee currently provides input on the development of the NMFS-led Omnibus Industry-Funded Monitoring Amendment. Over time, the committee may address a wider range of issues related to fisheries sampling and monitoring (including electronic monitoring and portside sampling).
The Observer Committee is composed of 15 members, including Council members as well as representatives from NOAA/NMFS, other observer service provider companies, and members from the Council’s advisory panels. Any interested candidates from observer provider companies should submit an application to the Council office no later than COB Friday, JULY 10, 2015.
