As part of the Atlantic Large Whale Take Reduction Plan, some new rules regarding trap/pot gear and gillnets go into effect on June 1, 2015.

New changes include:
- Allowing single traps to be fished in certain state waters of Rhode Island, Maine, and Massachusetts.
- Requiring singles in these waters to uniquely mark their gear beginning July 1, 2015.
- Requiring unique gear marking for trap/pots and gillnets in Jordan Basin and Jeffreys Ledge beginning September 1, 2015.
