January 28, 2015 — The legislation that will set the size and bag limits for striped bass for the 2015 season is now expected to be introduced in the New Jersey Senate and Assembly in early February.
The size and bag limits, one fish between 28 to 43 inches and another fish at 43 inches and above, were approved earlier this month by the New Jersey Marine Fisheries Commission. The measures are being implemented to reduce the striped bass harvest by 25 percent as mandated by Addendum IV to the ASMFC's Atlantic Striped Bass Fishery Management Plan.
The bill to enact the changes will be sponsored in the state Senate by Sen. Jeff Van Drew (D) and in the Assembly by Assemblyman Bob Andrzejczak (D).
