November 28, 2014 — It's OK again to fish in the waters off Jersey City and Bayonne, the state Department of Environmental Protection said in a statement today.
The broken sewer main in Jersey City that had been leaking water raw sewage into the Lower Hudson River, Upper New York Bay and the Kill Van Kull has been repaired, state officials said in lifting the advisory that was issued on Nov. 21.
The city's Municipal Utilities Authority completed temporary repairs early Thanksgiving Day morning and restored sewer service, ending the discharge of untreated sewage.
