October 2, 2014 — The following was released by the New England Fishery Management Council (NEFMC):
Yesterday the Council voted to ask NOAA Fisheries to take emergency action to address the poor condition of Gulf of Maine cod. The NEFMC will work on more permanent measures to replace the emergency rules this morning at its meeting in Hyannis, MA. The discussion today will not result in a final vote. That will occur at the Council’s November 18-20 meeting in Newport, RI
